Final Stats for 2009

My goal for the year was $10,000, but in about three weeks we raised over $21,000!

That's so amazing, and I couldn't have done it without the generosity of all the developers. They were super generous with their software, and incredibly patient with my constant pestering for the licenses (registrations) for the buyers.

(In fact, there's something of a discrepancy here. Our total donations at the PMC are almost $22,000, but the bundles we sold add up to $21,152.65. A number of people donated significantly more than the agreed-to price for their bundles, but $800 worth!? I haven't figured that out yet.)

Here are some interesting stats on the sales:

total retail value of all donated software: $127,144.11 (wow!)
total retail value of the bundles: $27,731.45
average bundle's retail value: $93.68
average bundle's sale price: $71.46
203 different titles were donated
- 139 mac apps
- 59 iPhone apps
- 1 web app subscription (with free iphone companion app)
we sold:
- 296 bundles, averaging 3.4 titles (licenses) each
- 824 mac app licenses
- 190 iPhone apps (App store promo codes)
- 4 web app subscriptions
- 1018 licenses
on average, buyers paid 76% of retail for their charity bundles (even though we never required more than 75%). Some buyers paid 200% of the retail price, and others paid our minimum (which was 40% for large bundles).

The PMC as a whole, this year, raised about $30 Million (still waiting on the final numbers) for the Jimmy Fund. Yay! It's hard to imagine that much money, isn't it? (Keep in mind there are about 5,000 of us raising the money for the PMC.)

The PMC Bundles project may just be a drop in the bucket, but it's an important drop and it's the best I can do. It has also improved by leaps and bounds every year.

Winding Down, but What a Year!

We've raised almost $18,000 so far this year. WOW!

That's way past our goal of $10,000. As a result, we're winding the project down.

There's still a lot of software left in the bundle builder, though. If you've been waiting to make an offer, now is the time to do it! We're only going to accept offers for a few more days.

I've just lowered the limits on the offers we'll accept, too. Call it a clearance sale, if you like.

Now go build yourself a bundle of mac software (and raise money for the charity at the same time).

Twenty New Apps in the Bundle Builder

We just added twenty new apps to the Bundle Builder. We also have five copies of Microsoft's Office:Mac 2008 and one copy of Adobe Photoshop, but they're both boxed software and we're not sure how to sell them yet.

At long last, we're ready to start selling the bundles.

That plaintive cry you hear is the dying whimper of the next two weeks of my life, as I try to deal with all the email this project generates.
